Even if you’ve visited Sandbox before, take a quick tour to refresh yoursel on what tools are available, we are constantly making new additions to the space!

Be sure to ask questions and review the tools carefully.

While we try to meet expectations, we don’t have every tool—for example, there’s no metal-cutting (DMLS) laser, and there's no table saw in the woodshop.

Before visiting the Sandbox, you must complete the Introduction module and score 100% on the Safety Training Quiz.

No additional modules are required unless you plan to use a tool that has its own ELMS module; in that case, complete that module and earn 100% on its quiz. You can explore most other modules in any order, just choose the ones that interest you!

Pinpoint links to your ELMS/Canvas training and grants you access to tools for which you’ve completed the required modules.

Before you arrive at Sandbox for the first time, create your Pinpoint account and connect it to your Canvas Badges at: pinpoint.umd.edu

At each visit, you will check in at the Pinpoint kiosk and select the tools you plan to use.
